Thank you to all the parents for attending conferences. We had 100% conference attendees.

The Iditarod race started on Saturday. We will choose mushers Monday morning before we leave on our Field Trip to The Pocatello Water Department. We have a busy day on Monday.

The end of the Fifth Six week grading period in April 17th. We already have the first boy and girl in our class reach their AR goal. Congratulations to Donald Rowberry and Joselle Newton.

In math we are taking our Chapter Test on "Reading from graphs and tables". We will start probability on Tuesday.

Everyone has an assignment to create a 3D model of the Water Cycle. This ties in well with our current science curriculum as are learning about Earth's natural resources.

Keep reading and working on your basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts. When you are fluent in your facts, you will do much better in your fourth grade math class.

Questions of the Week:
What is a biography? How many slaves did Harriet Tubman help lead to freedom? How many passengers did she lose?

Is that Captain Jack??

We had a special visitor in our classroom on Friday. Since we are the Third Grade Pirates, we decided to ask the most famous Pirate of all to come and sign autographs in our room. Thank you Captain Jack for making a timely appearance.

Congratulations to our top five students with the most improved Reading Fluency: Taylor Sanchez, Donald Rowberry, Aubrie Nield, Kymball Ellis, and Cody Herrera. Keep up the good work Pirates!
This week is another short one. Parent Teacher Conferences begin Wednesday after school and will continue all day Thursday and into the evening.
READING:
Because this is a short week, we are doing a Genre study in our Reading Series. We are studying about biographies and will be concentrating on Babe Didrikson, Bessie Coleman and Bill Melendez. A biography is a true story about a person who lived in the past or is living now. A biography includes important information about the person who is the subject of the biography. A biography usually begins with the early years of a person's life and then moves on to later years. The students will be creating their own short biography during a reading center. Are target goal for this week is suffixes: dropping the i and adding the appropriate ending to a base word.
MATH:
One more week of reading, interpruting data, and graphing the information. We also continue to review multiplication facts for our Fun Math Multiplication Facts booklet.
Science:
The students are concentrating on Earth's resources and learning how to be more conscience about preserving earth's rescources.
Question of the Week:
What is the mode, median, and range of the following numbers?
1, 6, 1, 4, 5, 1, 7, 9, 12, 1, 13
Remember, you have to order the numbers from least to greatest before you can find the median and the mode.
See you at conferences.
